‘UK-first’ attraction opens in the Garden of England that lets you play a ‘life-size video game’

A NEW indoor go-karting attraction that is just like playing a video game has opened in the UK.

BattleKart first opened in Belgium, with the success leading to other openings across Europe as well as Dubai and Australia.

It has now launched in the UK, with BattleKart Sittingbourne opening at the weekend.

With anything from two to 12 players, driving can choose between a range of activities using AR technology.

BattleRace lets you complete as many laps as possible while firing “missiles” at other drivers.

During BattleColour, drivers try and cover as much of the track in their teams colour, while BattleSnake declares the winner for whoever creates the longest snake by collecting coloured balls.

Drivers have to avoid getting infected during BattleVirus, while BattleFoot and BattlePool combines go-karts with football and pool, respectively.

The website states: “BattleKart is a full-sized video game console, where players drive around in real, ultra-spirited electric go-karts.

“BattleKart is a unique and ultra-innovative concept, where technology makes itself transparent in favour of maximum pleasure, whether or not you are used to electric go-karting and video games.”

The UK site even has an on-site bar so don’t worry about having to leave for a drink.

Ken Brennan, director of BattleKart Sittingbourne, said: “We’re very excited to bring BattleKart to the UK as it offers something new and original whether it’s for small groups of friends and family, birthday parties, hen and stag parties, or corporate team building events. Above all else, it’s great fun!

“If you’re old enough to remember playing Snake on your phone, you’ll love being inside the game, gathering fruits, blocking your opponents and aiming to be the longest snake at the end of the session.

“Or you might be a football fan but instead of sitting in front of the TV or on a cold pitch, the whole family can come along and play BattleFoot.”

The attraction is open every day, from 12pm to 10pm during the week, or from 9am to 10pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

While it is the first in the UK, there are a number of other racing attractions in the UK too.

Earlier this year, the first official F1 driving attraction opened in the UK at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Along with a bar and DJ booth, guests can practise driving on an F1 simulation.

In Manchester, there is Chaos Karts that is also like a racing video game.

And Sun Travel’s Ryan Gray visited the UK’s urban theme park with huge racing games inside – here’s what he thought.
