Jennifer Lopez’s Latest Post Has Fans Raising Eyebrows Over These Telling Lyrics
When Jennifer Lopez released her latest album This Is Me… Now, she made it clear that her rekindled romance with Ben Affleck inspired it all. So, of course, we can’t help but read into her new posts amid reports of their marriage woes too.
Most recently, the “On the Floor” singer posted a snippet of the her music video for “Cambia El Paso” with Rauw Alejandro on Instagram. In the music video of the song, which first came out in 2021, Lopez is seen dancing on a beach and during a night out after leaving her partner.
“Happy Anniversary Cambia El Paso … ☀️????,” Lopez wrote in the caption.
In the lyrics, Lopez sings about leaving her partner and embracing change. “Él no merece tenerla en su’ brazos (He doesn’t deserve to have her in his arms),” she sings. At another point, Lopez sings that she’s happier after the breakup. “Su vida está mejor ahora sin él (Her life is better now without him),” she sings.
So, whether on not Lopez posted the song to reflect her own relationship struggles, it seems the comment section might be seeing it as such. After all, the song is all about changing up your life and choosing yourself.
“One of my favs! We all need to pivot when things get rough. We can do that through dance!” one commenter wrote in the comment section. “If something’s not feeling right, whatever it is in your life, just make that change, move, and dance,” wrote another.
With all the recent reports of Lopez and Affleck’s growing tensions, it seems these comments are especially poignant.
Most recently, reports claimed that Lopez’s mom, Guadalupe Rodríguez, has been feeling some type of way about her daughter and Affleck’s marriage troubles.
“Jennifer’s mom told her, ‘Cut your losses and move on to avoid getting any deeper in this mess,’” an insider told Daily Mail, adding that she thinks Lopez “wasted years believing that Ben was some kind of knight in shining armor.”
“He was not the person she built him up to be,” the source continued. “It’s taken too much of a toll on her, and because of this, she has lost sight of who she is and what she stands for.”
As a reminder, Lopez and Affleck first fell in love after meeting on the set of Gigli in 2002. They appeared in a couple more projects together, and got engaged by the end of 2002, per People. In 2003, they postponed their wedding and then broke up days before, due to the paparazzi and pressure they faced, and were broken up by 2004.
In 2021, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance. A year later, they got engaged and married in a lavish ceremony, but as of July 2024, it seems their marriage is strained, and breakup rumors have been looming over them.
