Emily Ratajkowski Takes Son Sylvester to 'Magical, Special Place' From Her Childhood & It's So Wholesome

Emily Ratajkowski is taking a walk down memory lane with her son Sylvester while creating the same wonderful childhood memories for him, too.
On Sunday, the supermodel posted an Instagram Reel sharing a trip to her childhood home in San Diego. Ratajkowski specifically showed the art studio that her artist father, John Ratajkowski, built on their property and the fun day of painting they had with the 3-year-old.
Captioned “home at my dad’s studio 💟,” the footage began with the My Body author saying, “Okay, so come to paint with me in my dad’s studio.” She and Sylvester were seated on the floor of a cottage-style space working on paintings while her dad puttered around in the background. While showing the interior and exterior from different angles, Emily continued, “So this is the studio my dad built at the house I grew up in; he’s lived here for 40-something years.”
“He built the studio; he’s an artist. He was actually my painting teacher in high school,” the Gone Girl actress shared while showing the art pieces she and her son were working on, followed by several framed posters, photos, and other artwork around her dad’s space.
“It’s just a really magical, special place,” Emily said over a clip of Sylvester and her dad painting on the floor together. “Sly loves painting so much, so it’s really fun for them to do together.” She added, “He also just adores his grandpa.”
Emily ended the video with a wholesome clip of herself, her dad, and her toddler standing side-by-side holding up their finished paintings. Each was a colorful abstract creation, which her mom Kathleen Balgley admired with an enthusiastic “Wow!” from behind the camera.
Fans loved the peek at the runway model’s family life, and many people commented on the post to tell her John was their high school art teacher as well. Others loved the video for the wholesome family bonding of it all — one follower wrote, “Shout out to your dad. So cool. What a wonderful environment for kids to be in.”
Another fan commented, “Such a gorgeous place! And what an amazing grandpa for that sweet little guy!!” Someone else sweetly wrote, “What a great place for your kiddo to spend time with grandpa. I’m sure it will be great memories for him.”
Like his mom, Sylvester will grow up making magical memories that will be nostalgic later in life — and that bittersweet longing for treasured times from the past is one of the best things to come out of anyone’s childhood.
