Bindi Irwin‘s daughter Grace enjoyed a family beach trip over the weekend, and even her “Grandpa Crocodile” Steve Irwin was there — in the sweetest way.

On Sunday, Bindi shared a feel-good video on her Instagram Story showing glimpses of an oceanside excursion with her 3-year-old daughter, her husband Chandler Powell, and her brother Robert Irwin. While Powell and Robert enjoyed surfing, Grace and Bindi explored the beach on foot. “It is the most beautiful afternoon ever,” the mom of one said as she recorded Grace approaching the shore.

The video continued with several clips of the toddler running around the beach and on foliage-lined paths, looking as cute as ever (and her hair is getting so long!). In some shots, Grace wore white joggers with a delicate pink floral pattern, high-top pink floral sneakers, and a lilac, tan, and white knit sweater. In others, the 3-year-old was wearing black pants, gray sneakers, and a rust-colored jacket lined with white sherpa material — it is currently winter in Australia, after all!

The sweetest part of the video was the adorable way Grace brought Grandpa Crocodile along for the adventure. One clip showed the toddler walking along a sandy path, clutching something in her hand. Bindi said, “She’s got Grandpa Crocodile Pop Icon,” referring to a Steve Irwin Funko Pop toy. The family does many things to keep the wildlife legend’s memory alive, especially for Grace, and this is just another small but impactful way the toddler is weaving her late grandpa into her life.

Though Steve tragically passed away nearly 18 years ago, his kids, wife Terri Irwin, son-in-law, and granddaughter are carrying on his legacy in the most heartwarming way. Just last week, Bindi shared a video conveying Grace’s love for tortoises — and her early wildlife commentary skills! The footage showed Grace interacting with a giant tortoise and sharing facts about the creature named Igloo, and it’s absolutely as cute as it sounds.

Bindi also included archive footage of herself around Grace’s age, interacting with a tortoise in a super similar way to her daughter. Their mannerisms and demeanor are nearly identical, and the passion for animals is clearly in the Irwin family’s blood.

In the comments section, one follower wrote, “I know that your Dad is beaming with such an enormous amount of pride right now seeing how his incredible legacy is living on through her.” From being toted around in Funko Pop form to Grace picking up his signature phrases, we can only imagine the joy The Crocodile Hunter icon gets from his granddaughter as he looks down on her from the afterlife.
