Man jailed for six years for cannabis haul

A 44-year-old old man was sentenced to six years in jail on Monday after he was found with around 6kg of cannabis.

The sentence was handed down at Larnaca criminal court on the count of possession of intent to supply.

According to police, the 44-year-old was spotted by officers on March 22 while he was driving in Larnaca. A 17-year-old man was a passenger in the car.

After a search in the vehicle, members of the drug squad found five plastic bags of cannabis in the back seats and under the driver’s seat.

The total weight of the drugs amounted to around 6kg.

Both were arrested and held in custody. A case against the 17-year-old is ongoing.
