CUBC athletes race at Henley Women’s Regatta

Alice Baines – Aspirational 1x

In her heat, Alice raced Ripon of York Rowing Club, and was never headed. She drew out quickly to a lead, which she extended to over 40 seconds by the time she crossed the finish line and progressed to the quarter finals.

Alice’s quarter final was a more difficult affair as although she improved her heat time by nearly 20 seconds, Bailey of Mortlake proved the winner by just over 2 lengths.

Katy Hempson, Georgia Gollogly – Championship 2-

Racing Tideway titans Thames in the heat, Katy and Georgia had a comfortable win in the 2-, recording a 10 second win over Thames B, and qualifying for Sunday’s quarter finals.

In the quarter final, Scotland’s Strathclyde Park were stronger, winning by just over a length in a well contested race.

Claire Cooper – Championship Lightweight 1x

Progressing straight to the quarter-final, Claire’s campaign was stopped by a strong row from Robson of Hamilton Rowing Club, who took a 4 length win in a very tough race which saw the New Zealander progress to the semi-finals.
