Ben Jacobs has become the latest journalist to talk up the chances of Tottenham Hotspur making a move for Lille striker Jonathan David this summer.
Jonathan David to Tottenham?
David has been one of the most prolific strikers in Ligue 1 over the last four years and with the 24-year-old now into the final year of his contract, unsurprisingly, a whole host of clubs around Europe are thought to be keeping an eye on his situation.
This includes a bunch of Premier League sides, with reports over recent weeks claiming that Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle could battle it out for the 23-year-old’s signature (Guardian).
The 24-year-old is currently with the Canadian national side, who have made history at the Copa America by making it all the way until the final four of the competition, with David and his teammates set to take on Cristian Romero’s Argentina in the semifinal this week.
Keep an eye on Spurs in the Jonathan David race
Jacobs believes that the striker will be playing for a new club next season, with Lille ready to sell him for just £25m.
The journalist said on The London is Blue Podcast: “As far as strikers are concerned, the most experienced name with pedigree at the moment is Jonathan David who is available at a steal.
“I’d keep an eye on Spurs as well and I’m told that Lille will accept well under £30m, around €30m instead of pounds, so around £25m, so Chelsea could be one to watch there.”

David’s involvement in Copa America might be the reason why the likes of Spurs, Chelsea and others have not made a concrete move yet.
One would expect the race for the Lille star’s signature to intensify over the next couple of weeks.
