KANSAS (KSNT) - The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced the winning bids for various state highway and maintenance projects. More than half-a-million dollars will go towards improving pedestrian and bicycle paths in Shawnee County.

Some bids can include multiple projects that were bundled together based on the type of work and location, according to KDOT. Projects happening in northeast Kansas and Shawnee County include:

  • Shawnee - $598,598.00
    • Scope of work - pedestrian and bicycle paths
    • Location - A total of 10 locations connecting to Landon, Shunga and North Levee Trails, pedestrian and bicycle paths.
    • Contractor - Julius Kaaz Construction Co. Inc.
  • Shawnee - $302,397.36
    • Scope of work - Pavement marking
    • Location - I‑70, beginning west of Southwest Valencia Road east 0.31 miles to the east of Southwest Eagle Ridge Lane.
    • Contractor - Cillessen and Sons Inc.
  • Shawnee - $119,091.64
    • Scope of work - Crack repair
    • Location - US 24, beginning at the Pottawatomie/Shawnee County line east to the west-side city limits of Silver Lake, beginning east of Northwest Menoken Road going east to west of Northwest Rochester Road.

  • Jefferson - $116,836.82
    • Scope of work - Crack repair
    • Location - U.S. 59, from the U.S. 59/98th Street junction north to the Jefferson/Atchison County line.

    • Scope of work - Crack repair
    • Location - K‑92, from the K‑92/Lovers Lane intersection in the city of McLouth northeast to the Jefferson/Leavenworth County line.

    • Location - K‑4, from the K‑4/K‑92 junction northeast to the K‑4/US 59 junction.

    • Scope of work - 17 miles of crack repair
    • Location - K‑32 in Douglas County, from the K‑32/US 24 junction east to the Leavenworth/Douglas county line; and K‑32 in Leavenworth County, from the Leavenworth/Douglas county line east to the Leavenworth/Wyandotte county line.

  • Statewide - $257,063.21
    • Scope of work - 25 miles of crack repair
    • Location - beginning at the Osage/Shawnee County line north to the south edge of the Topeka Boulevard Bridge and K‑4 in Shawnee County, beginning at the Shawnee/Wabaunsee County line northeast to the K‑4/Auburn Road junction.
