"Tour de Ted's" Fish Fry off to a sizzling start

You'd be hard pressed to find a Capital Region native who hasn't been to or driven by a Ted's Fish Fry. The commercial jingle is a crowd pleaser, and the $0.75 fish fry being served for the local chain's 75th anniversary is just as popular.

WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- You'd be hard pressed to find a Capital Region native who hasn't been to--or driven by, at the very least--a Ted's Fish Fry. The commercial jingle is a crowd pleaser, and the $0.75 fish fry being served for the local chain's 75th anniversary is just as popular.

The line started forming in Watervliet nearly an hour before doors opened. Local officials, including Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and Assemblymember John McDonald joined the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce to cut the ribbon on the anniversary celebration right before customers were let in to order food.

For each day of "Tour de Ted's," customers can get 75-cent fish fries at one of its locations, including at the now-closed Lansingburgh location with the Ted’s On Wheels food truck. Here’s the schedule:

  • July 8: 447 3rd Avenue in Watervliet from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • July 9: 350 2nd Avenue in Lansingburgh from noon to 7 p.m. with a limited menu
  • July 10: 700 Hoosick Road in Troy from noon to 7:45 p.m.
  • July 11: 636 New Loudon Road in Latham from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • July 12: 203 Wolf Road in Albany from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • July 13: 1663 Route 9 in Halfmoon from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • July 14: 1186 Western Avenue in Albany from noon to 7:45 p.m.

According to Ted’s, there’s a one 75-cent fish fry per customer limit and you must be in-store to redeem it, no call-in orders. The full menu will also be available at each location.

On July 14, Ted’s will be having its anniversary party at the Western Avenue location. In addition to 75-cent fish fries, there will be drink specials, a raw bar, music, face painting, and more.

If you visit all the locations for the celebration, you can get a card punched that will enter you for a chance to win free fish fries for a year.

Ted's Fish Fry has traditions that go back to the 1940’s, including the way orders are called in to the cooks, and the recipes mastered by Ted himself. Ted Deeb was the son of Lebanese immigrants in Troy with a passion for business. After 75 years of keeping traditions alive and family involved, the Deebs consider their six locations an American Dream success story.
