Eight people injured after bus crashes into NY home

(WJET/WFXP)-- Several people were injured early Monday morning after a Chautauqua County Resource Center bus went off the road and crashed into a residence.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the accident with injuries in the 2000 block of Rt 5 in the Town of Sheridan on July 8 around 7:26 a.m.

After investigating, police said the driver of the bus carrying eight other people went through two fences before crashing into the nearby residence.

Seven people onboard the bus were transported to Brook's Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries while another was taken to Erie County Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Nobody inside the residence was injured and the driver was issued citations for speed not reasonable or prudent and moving from the lane unsafely.

Members of the Sheridan FD, Chautauqua County EMS, Silver Creek FD, Forestville FD, Dunkirk FD, Cattaraugus FD and Emergency Services also assisted at the scene.
