AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport reported a small number of flight cancellations Monday hours after Beryl touched down on the Texas coast in the early morning.

Beryl has since weakened to a tropical storm as it moves north of Houston. Portions of eastern and Central Texas saw heavy rainfall and strong winds, while the greater Austin metropolitan area has remained virtually unscathed, save for some smaller pockets of moderate showers and wind.

AUS has 290 departing flights scheduled Monday. Among those, a spokesperson confirmed 10 had been canceled as of Monday morning; the majority of those were departures heading to the Houston area, the spokesperson said.

According to aviation database FlightAware, there have been 21 cancellations of flights heading into AUS over the past 24 hours, as of 1:15 p.m. Nationally, there have been just over 2,100 cancellations Monday, with a large concentration of those due to Beryl.

The George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston had 585 flight cancellations Monday, a marked 88% cancellation rate. In second is the William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, with 163 cancellations at an 80% cancellation rate. The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport rang in third place with 39 cancellations and a 3% cancellation rate.
