‘That’s tacky’ people pile into friend for bizarre bridal shower dress they say only Bianca Censori would wear out
WHEN it comes to wedding events, there is one major rule for guests attending – don’t upstage the bride and wear white.
However, one woman decided to do just that and donned a Fashion Nova dress that was not only white but also sheer.
The clothing brand uploaded some snaps of their customer wearing the dress, and added: “GRWM [get ready with me] To Attend A Friends Bridal Shower In An Elegant Lace Maxi Dress.”
Despite her looking unquestionably show-stopping, a number of people were surprised at the bold dress choice, and the snaps were shared to Reddit where internet users weighed in on the design.
The uploader wrote: “I know it’s just marketing but damn.
“Also, this would be a bit much for even the bride to wear to a pre event.
“Not surprising at all for Fashion Nova though.”
She added: “This girl in this dress was posted here in the past few weeks.
“She actually wore this to a wedding and posted on her own SM [social media] while wearing it lol.”
Many people were quick to slam the dress, as although it is beautiful, they claimed it is inappropriate for a bridal event.
One wrote: “Elegance means not showing your underwear.”
Another added: “That’s a tacky dress. And no way would a normal person wear it outside the house.”
A third said: “I didn’t even wear white TO MY OWN bridal shower.”
One person commented that it looked like something Kanye West’s partner would wear, following a string of her risque public looks.
They wrote: “It’s a Bianca Censori original.”

Her annoyance was so great that she couldn’t bite her tongue.

Josie Griffiths said: I tend to consider myself pretty low maintenance from a fashion and beauty point of view.
I can be out the door in 20 minutes in the morning, normally do my mascara on the bus or the Tube, and spend my work from home days in my gym gear.
But when it comes to my wedding this summer, that’s all gone out the window.
Professional hair and makeup is booked for 8am, I’ve gone all out on my wedding dress, got designer shoes and even bought a second dress for the evening do.
So when I think about someone wearing a white gown to my big day, yeah I think I’d be pretty mad.
The idea behind not wearing a white dress goes back to not wanting to ‘upstage the bride’.
Which, to be fair, is unlikely. Not only has she possibly spent a small fortune on her look for the day, she’s also one of the only two people present who knows (and hopefully likes) all the guests.
So the main risk you’re taking is just making yourself look quite silly – and getting gossiped about by total strangers.
A wedding guest I met in October 2022 still sticks out in my mind. I still don’t know what was worse – the fact she was so drunk she was crashing into people on the dance floor, or her decision to wear a white dress, which was arguably marginally improved by the glass of red wine she’d drunkenly tipped down herself.
I know weddings are expensive for everyone and it’s fair enough if you don’t want to buy a whole new outfit – I’m all for re-using what’s already in your wardrobe.
Just avoid the white dress for the bride’s sake – and your own.
Wedding planner Cari Izaguirre said there is no reason for a guest to ever show up wearing the same colour as the bride.
Speaking about etiquette, she said in the clip: “You do not wear white to a wedding. Or a light ivory. You just don’t do it.”
Standing outside of a reception she organised, she said there were four people sporting looks that crossed the line.
