Controversial new Channel 4 show ‘will give illegal immigrants guide on how to enter Britain by the back door’

CHANNEL 4 is stirring up controversy by showing how immigrants enter the UK illegally.

It will put six Brits in two of the world’s worst danger zones for a new reality show.

They must travel from Somalian capital Mogadishu and Raqqa in Syria, crossing the Channel on a small boat.

People with differing views on refugees will feature on Go Back To Where You Came From.

An insider said: “It could be seen as a guide to how to get into Britain by the back door.

“And it comes at a time when the country is struggling to deal with the issue and stem the number of boats trying to cross the channel.”

Channel 4 bosses insist they only have one aim in making the TV experiment, which is based on a 2011 Australian show of the same name and likely to air next year.

Like one of C4’s biggest hits, Benefits Street, it takes people out of the comfort zone of their daily lives in the UK and see how they respond in a hugely challenging situation.

A spokeswoman for Channel 4 said: “The show will provide a unique and compelling perspective on the plight and flight of asylum seekers – a perfect illustration of how a controversial and thought-provoking format can, through a very human focus, challenge preconceptions.”

The show comes as the new Labour government confirms it has scrapped the Rwanda scheme that was intended to be a deterrent to such crossings.
