Some of the Best Indie Apps for Mac, iPhone, and iPad Are on Sale Right Now

Indie App Sales is here once more, letting you supercharge your Apple devices on the cheap.

Some of the best Mac apps don't come from Apple, but are actually made by indie developers. Some of my favorite indie apps, including Mona, Hezel, and Loop, are so useful that they have a permanent place in my app library. To supercharge your Mac like mine, check out Indie App Sales, an event where independent developers discount their apps.

Previously, Indie App Sales held a discount event in March and one during Black Friday, which means that the current sale is the third such event within a year. Here are the best deals from this edition of Indie App Sales, which has over 200 participating apps at the time of writing. Most of these apps will only be on sale only on July 9 and 10, though, so act quickly if you spot a good deal.

Back up your Apple Music library

Hezel is a great app that backs up your entire Apple Music library. In case you accidentally delete a song, an album, or a playlist from your collection, you can always visit Hezel's backups and quickly restore them to your Apple Music account.

Show your reminders in the calendar

ReminderCal allows you to sync to-dos from the Reminders app with your calendar. It shows your to-dos as events in Apple's Calendar app on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia allow you to do this natively, but ReminderCal is a great option for those who can't or don't plan to upgrade.

All of your custom Apple Music playlists deserve to have beautiful covers. Denim allows you to quickly generate great cover art and it has many more options than the ones Apple provides in the Music app.

Store your passwords securely

Secrets is a good password manager app for when you need to store sensitive information. This includes bank details, credit card information, and of course, passwords. It can also generate and store two-factor authentication codes, also knows as one-time passwords for your accounts. While Apple's released a password manager for iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, Secrets is still a good option for those who can't upgrade.

Sale duration: Until July 31

Easily connect Bluetooth accessories to your Mac

Relive the good old days with RSS feeds

It's becoming increasingly difficult to use social media to keep up with news or your favorite blogs. RSS feeds are a great alternative because they use open web standards, display posts in the order of your choice, and actually show you all the posts you've signed up for. Elytra is a neat indie app that allows you to sign up for a bunch of RSS feeds and allows you to read without distractions.

Block distractions easily

The internet can be a huge time sink, which can destroy productivity. If you find yourself wasting all your time on Reddit or other social media sites, then get yourself a distraction blocker app. focusedOS is one of many great options, allowing you to instantly block all distractions to focus only on the work you need to do.

Follow your favorite TV shows

Seasons lets you keep track of your favorite shows and helps you save money. With streaming services getting more expensive each year, it doesn't make sense to subscribe all year long. Instead, you can subscribe for a month, watch your favorite shows, and cancel the service until it has another show you want to binge watch. Seasons lets you do just that by keeping track of the shows you're interested in and letting you know when it's time to subscribe to or cancel your streaming services.

Sale duration: July 9-11

Discounted price: $4.99 (45% off on the lifetime in-app purchase)

Save links for later reading

I come across a lot of links when I'm browsing social media, but I don't always have time to read every interesting article I see. Plinky lets you save links and check them out later. The app just got a big update that adds a fully customizable "Save Link" screen.

Sale duration: July 8-11

Discounted price: $20 per year (50% off on the first year, use code INDIEFRIEND)

Focus on listening to albums on Apple Music

LongPlay is an Apple Music player that focuses on albums. If you hate algorithmic playlists and prefer to listen to music albums, check out this app. It shows all your albums in a gallery wall setup, and when you tap an album, it starts playing it from the beginning. Technically, you can also use the filters button to show only your playlists, but LongPlay is best used to listen to albums.
