Rayne man charged for damage to city basketball court
RAYNE, La. (KLFY) – A Rayne man was charged after he used a vehicle to damage the city basketball court.
According to Rayne Police, a silver 2002 Buick sedan was driven onto the City of Rayne basketball court located in the 1000 block of Lyman Avenue on July 3 around 9 p.m. The vehicle was used to cause damage to the custom-installed court tiles and broke several anchor points.
An investigation discovered that Trevion Lamar Hollier, 19 of Rayne, was the driver of the vehicle.
On Monday, Hollier was charged with simple criminal damage to property and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Two other individuals with Trevion were not charged.
The basketball court was evaluated by New Academics, LLC, the original vendor that installed the court. They recommended that the court be closed until the tiles could be replaced and re-anchored for safety reasons. The vendor is expected to complete the repairs this week, allowing the court to be re-opened.
