New Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov believes Boston fits not just his playing style, but also his mentality.

It’s no secret Boston fans hold their teams to a high standard, as told by many athletes who visit. With the mix of fans and the winning culture, Zadorov knew Boston would be a perfect fit for him.

“I feel like (Boston) fits my mentality as well: win or nothing,” Zadorov told reporters Monday, per Boston Hockey Now’s Andrew Fantucchio. “This city is so culturally engaged in sports. All four teams here are always winning and competing for championships and fans expect you to win every year. I like that pressure, and I think it drives me.”

The 29-year-old, who will enter his 12th NHL season, is hungry to win a Stanley Cup.

Zadorov will be in Boston long-term after he signed a six-year, $30 million contract. He wants to complement Bruins star Charlie McAvoy’s game, someone he tagged as one of his favorite defensemen.

Zadorov, listed at 6-foot-6 and 248 pounds, will add size to the blue line, In 75 games with the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames in 2023-24, he logged 125 minutes with six goals and 14 assists.

“I signed here because I want my chance to win a championship,” Zadorov said. “I’m really invested in what I do, and I’m putting all my heart in it. I’m here for six years, and I will put my heart into being a Bruin and trying to win the Stanley Cup here.”

The defenseman announced he will wear No. 91, the number he wore with the Canucks.
