Pete O’Rourke has revealed in his column for Football Insider that Tottenham Hotspur would only be able to afford one of Eberechi Eze or Pedro Neto this summer.

The journalist backs up what we have heard from several sources over the last few weeks, stating that Ange Postecoglou is keen on adding more attacking firepower to his squad ahead of his second season in charge.

The Tottenham head coach has allegedly thus set his sights on Eze and Neto: two exciting attackers with plenty of experience in the Premier League.

However, according to O’Rourke, neither player will come cheap, with both deals set to prove difficult to complete.

It’s a case of Eze or Neto for Tottenham

He explains that Crystal Palace are reluctant to let Eze leave after losing Michael Olise, with Spurs thus potentially having to meet the attacking midfielder’s release clause, which stands at around £60m.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou is also thought to want reinforcements out wide, with Neto being one of the players on the club’s wishlist.

However, it is pointed out that the Portugal international’s injury problems are a concern for Spurs as they evaluate whether to make a move for him.

The journalist adds that Neto is expected to cost around £50m-£60m, which means that Tottenham can sign just one of him or the Eagles star this summer.

I would be extremely surprised if Tottenham shell out £50m on Neto, given his injury record.

While Spurs are seemingly prepared to spend big on Eze, by all accounts, his release clause is extremely complicated, thus making the deal a very difficult one to do.
