Red Flag Warning in place as Oregon's fire, heat threat grows

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Red Flag Warning is in place for the Oregon Cascades as hot, dry, and windy conditions persist Monday.

Dangerously hot temperatures will continue to work their way back into the region on Monday. It's the hot and dry conditions that will help increase the wildfire threat on Monday afternoon and evening. Wind speeds could gust close to 25 mph as temperatures climb to 80-90 degrees Monday, even up in elevation. Relative humidity values will bone dry Monday with percentage values hover close to 15.

An elevated threat of wildfire activity remains through the middle of the week. A Fire Weather Watch is in place for northcentral Oregon on Wednesday. Hot, dry, and breezy conditions are the cause of the increase in wildfire activity.

Stay with the KOIN 6 Weather Team for the latest wildfire and heat-related information as the forecast continues to develop.
