The experts explained how if you don’t have Prime, Amazon charges for delivery on orders under £35 in most cases. This increased from £25 in June 2024.

The money whizzes said: “There’s a trick to help you get free delivery if your item doesn’t reach that threshold and is sold and dispatched by Amazon itself.

“It doesn’t work for Marketplace items, unless they’re dispatched by Amazon.

Standard delivery can be anything from £3.95 to £4.99 so the experts advised that it may be worth buying something small that you need which costs less than that, to take you over the £35 free delivery threshold.

The threshold drops if your order includes £10 or more of books.

In this case, all other items from Amazon in the order will be delivered free too.

They then revealed that an ex-MSE team member created a cunning Super Saver Delivery Toool.

The tool scours Amazon for small filler items to bump up your order to £35.

“Customers just need to enter how much more you’d need to spend to get to £35 and it displays a list of items with prices close to that amount,” they explained.

“For example: Imagine Lois Price wanted a £34.99 candle gift set – she’d face £4.99 delivery, a total of £39.98.

“The tool reveals she could add a 22p safety-pin set, so she’d only pay £35.21.”

It comes as Amazon upped its minimum amount for free deliveries from £25 to £35 sparking a furious backlash from customers.

The updated threshold means shoppers must pay 40% more to avoid a delivery charge if they want the goods brought to their home.

The change appears to have taken place this week after the website was quietly updated.

“That’s a lot for a lot of people in these reduced times.

“Not very well publicised considering how entwined they are in our lives now.”

Amazon makes a major change to deliveries

AMAZON has upped its minimum amount for free deliveries from £25 to £35 sparking a furious backlash from customers.

The updated threshold will mean shoppers must pay 40% more to avoid a delivery charge if they want the goods brought to their home.

The change appears to have taken place in mid June after the website was quietly updated.

Another wrote: “That’s way too high!! Also, you didn’t exactly publicise it, very sneaky!”

Most types of deliveries are free for Amazon Prime members, except for superfast “Same Day & Overnight Delivery” services which cost £1.99 if the amount spent is under £20.

Non-Prime members can avoid paying a delivery charge on a low-value item by ordering it to be collected from a “Pickup Location”, like an Amazon locker.
