'A Bar Song (Tipsy)' Lyrics: Shaboozey Explains 'Sad' Meaning Behind His Hit Single

Shaboozey has achieved his first number one hit song with “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which just topped the charts on the Billboard Hot 100.

The 29-year-old singer actually joined Beyonce on her Cowboy Carter tracks “Spaghetti” and “Sweet Honey Buckiin” before dropping his hit single.

In the chorus of his new song, Shaboozey sings, “Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey (A double shot of whiskey) / They know me and Jack Daniel’s got a history (We go way back) / There’s a party downtown, near 5th Street / Everybody at the bar gettin’ tipsy (Woo).”

If you didn’t know, Shaboozey‘s new single interpolates J-Kwon‘s hit song “Tipsy.”

The rapper is opening up about the “sad” meaning behind the track.

“Not to ruin anybody’s time, but ‘A Bar Song’ is… a song that sounds happy, but if you look at it from a different perspective, it’s also like, a song about someone who is having some struggles that are trying to get through it,” he told Audacy. “And in the moment, it seems like we’re having a great time, but then…. It’s kinda sad. Like, ‘I’m at the bottom of a bottle don’t miss me…. It’s good storytelling.“
