Family shocked after dog turns on stove and burns down their house

The homeowners slept as their dog turned the hob to light.

This is the moment a dog ignored all fire safety precautions and turned on a stove – setting fire to his owner’s home as they slept.

Footage shows the dog nonchalantly turning the knob to light before flames spread across the hob on June 26.

Soon enough, the kitchen cabinets are seen ablaze as the smoke alarm goes off in the background.

Colorado Springs Fire Department released the footage after they were called to the home by a HomePod device which sent them a ‘high heat’ notice.

Thankfully one of the homeowners was able to put the fire out himself.

A man was treated for smoke inhalation, USAToday reports.

No other injuries – including to the dog – were reported.

But the family have been forced to move out of the home due to the damage caused.

The dog’s role in causing the fire was only discovered as investigators looked back at home surveillance videos to find the cause.
