Man Utd told they have to sign world-class star Erik ten Hag wants within next 13 days - report

Manchester United have been handed a deadline until July 21 to land the signature of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on a permanent deal.

Amrabat spent the 2023/24 season on loan with the Red Devils where he made 30 appearances in all competitions.

He had a mixed campaign by his high standards, but managed to impress manager Erik ten Hag during the final weeks.

Amrabat has returned to La Viola after his loan contract expired on June 30, but United still have an option to buy.

Gazzetta dello Sport (page 19) claim that United currently have a deadline until July 21 to decide on the buy clause.

Amrabat, who is keen on staying in the Premier League, won’t be involved in Fiorentina’s pre-season training until then.

It was previously reported that United can sign him for £17-21 million but Gazzetta claim that the fee will be £13-17m.

Man Utd could re-sign Amrabat under Ten Hag’s request

Amrabat joined the club last summer with plenty of expectations, but he struggled to cope with the higher intensity of the Premier League.

The Moroccan star found himself on the bench in the early part of 2024, but he managed to redeem himself during the final four games.

With an injury crisis at centre-back, Casemiro had to fill the void. This paved the way for Amrabat to partner Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.

Amrabat was impressive in his final three league starts and he also got the nod over Casemiro in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Casemiro was initially named on the bench before he withdrew from the matchday squad with a minor muscle injury during the warm-up.

Amrabat still dreams of returning to Old Trafford and his wish could come true after the club retained the services of Ten Hag as their manager.

The Dutchman appears keen on re-signing the 27-year-old, who was described as ‘world-class‘ by Morocco manager Walid Regragui at the 2022 World Cup.
