Drizzly and tiny Tuesday

Hello Friends,

A small crew were on it at the point, on lightly raining Tuesday morning but the 1.5 metre, 12-second SE swell was very lully and didn’t look to be much above the waist high mark. Surface conditions were okay thanks to the north breeze not being too brisk. It should pick up a little as the day goes along. Given the almost indiscernible change in the swell, I’d say if you’re keen for a wave and you surfed yesterday, make a return visit to wherever you went out.  Tide’s not doing much, the difference between the 1.3 metre high at 10 and the low at 1530 is on 0.7 m.

We’re back to sunny mornings for the next couple of days, but swell prospects look, if anything, to be smaller than today as more of the longer period component fades away. The grey and drizzly stuff could be back for the weekend, however, the models are showing an east swell in the 2 metre/ 11 sec range with light offshore wind. And GFS is currently showing a sunny start to Sunday with continuing swell…

Go well with your day!

Weather Situation

A strong high pressure over the southern Tasman Sea is slowly heading towards New Zealand while a trough approaches from the west. The trough will bring a west to southwesterly wind change later today through early Wednesday as it crosses the coastal waters, then the trough will become stagnant over the Tasman Sea through the midweek. Behind this, another high pressure system will drift across the state midweek before a cold front brushes the south later in the week.
