Monty regularly takes to social media to update fans on his adored fans and show off his spectacular garden.

But in a change to his usual posts, Monty shared a behind-the-scenes snap of his dressing room as he prepared for a gig.

He told his 1.3 million fans: “The latest in my series of glamorous dressing rooms- getting set for tonight’s show at Kew the Music (bring wellies, waterproofs and umbrellas).”

But Monty’s followers flooded the star with support as they commented on the ‘soulless’ space that had no cake – or flower – in sight.

One fan said: “They couldn’t have made it more miserable if they had tried especially as it’s your birthday It’s going to take a lot of gin to make that look inviting how disappointing.”

A second posted: “I hope you can have a birthday celebration after the show. It doesn’t look very inviting.”

“Kind of soulless? Power through Monty,” said a third concerned follower.

While a fourth wrote: “Not a cake in sight? Happy Birthday Monty!”

Meanwhile, Monty was recently flooded with support after sharing another emotional post.

The BBC personality shared a touching image of himself with his cherished dogs Nell and Ned on Instagram.

It comes after Monty announced the golden retriever had sadly passed away last year.

The rise and rise of Monty Don

SINCE bursting onto our TV screens in Gardeners' World in the early noughties, Monty Don has been a much-loved star.

Before finding fame on TV, and together with his wife Sarah, Monty set up a lucrative jewellery business in the early 80s.

Monty then joined the popular BBC show as presenter in 2003, taking over from the out going Alan Titchmarsh, and has been there ever since.

Every since he burst onto the scene, he has become a familiar face on the box.

Away from Gardeners’ World he is also known for Monty Don’s Italian Gardens, as well as the FrenchAmerican and Japanese versions of the show.
