Just hours left for McDonald’s customers to claim millions of prizes including free Big Macs and McNuggets
CUSTOMERS of fast food giant McDonald’s have just hours left to claim millions of unredeemed Surprize Fries prizes.
Today (July 9) is the final day you can cash in your Surprize Fries tokens for free goodies including McFlurrys, Big Macs and McNuggets.
The peel-to-play promotion gave McDonald’s customers the chance to win a prize every time they bought Surprize Fries between May 29 and July 2.
Around 20million prizes were up for grabs when the competition launched, but on June 24, just 2.2million had been redeemed.
This means there could be some 17.8million prizes waiting to be cashed in.
Customers had a chance to win a prize every time they bought a portion of medium or large fries, all of which had a sticker on the back.
When peeled back, one-in-three stickers revealed an instant prize which can be redeemed in restaurants until the end of today.
Prizes ranged from free menu items including Big Macs, apple pies and milkshakes, to £200 in cash.
Two-in-three stickers featured a code to enter into the McDonald’s app.
These codes then revealed prizes as well as rewards points, which could be used to get money off future meals.
Anyone who entered 10 sticker codes in the app could unlock a “Bonus Fry” of 2,500 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points, which can be redeemed against any menu item.
When the game launched, there were 2.6million prizes of six chicken McNuggets up for grabs, as well as 2.1million cheeseburgers, 1.9million Big Macs and 1.9million McFlurries.
App prizes included McDonald’s fries socks and bucket hats as well as a McDonald’s fries pool float.
There were also more than 300,000 cash prizes released.

EYES ON THE PRIZE
McDonald’s regularly offers customers the chance to snap up prizes through promotions, including its Monopoly and Winning Sips games.
McDonald’s Monopoly launched in 2005 and sees customers collect game pieces when they buy specific products.
These pieces can then be redeemed for prizes or rewards points.
Winnings Sips is more similar to the new Surprize Fries game, with fans able to peel stickers off medium or large soft drinks which can be redeemed for prizes.
Last week, McDonald’s launched its latest menu shakeup including a brand new burger.
The fast food giant is adding a total of eight new items to its main offering, including returning favourites like mozzarella bites and chicken selects.
The Sun tried out all eight new items and we delivered our verdict.
When new items are launched others are dropped and six menu items are set disappear when the new range hits restaurants.
As well as limited-time games, McDonald’s customers can gain free rewards through the restaurants loyalty app MyMcDonald’s Rewards.

HERE'S everything you need to know about MyMcDonald's Rewards:
The loyalty programme launched in January 2022 and lets customers earn points when buying food or drinks from the chain.
For every penny you spend on qualifying products, you receive one point.
When you get to 1,500 points, you can redeem your rewards points on a future purchase.
1,500 points is worth a small fries medium salad, regular McCafé®, mini McFlurry®, hash brown and regular drink.
2,500 points is worth a Vegetable Deluxe, Bacon Mayo Chicken, Cheesy Bacon Flatbread, medium fries, Double Cheeseburger, an apple pie
5,500 points is worth a McSpicy®, Mighty McMuffin
, McCrispy or a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
You can also choose to donate any loyalty points to one of McDonald’s partner charities.
You can unlock rewards points via the Rewards Menu in the MyMcDonald’s app.
These points can be redeemed at the Kiosk, Drive-Thru, Front-Counter or via McDelivery®.
