With a dazzling performance against the national team, Cooper Flagg makes a statement: I’m coming for you all.

Monday was a huge day for Duke freshman Cooper Flagg as he nearly led the Select Team to an upset of the U.S. National team in Las Vegas.

We’ve been reserved about Flagg because hype is a difficult burden for anyone and you still have to prove you can do it.

Well, on Monday, Flagg did just that.

He’s basically going toe-to-toe with some of the best players in the world, and he’s just 17.

The question now, which we have to wait to answer, is no longer is the hype justified. The question now is more about where his weaknesses are. Because if he’s playing at an NBA level at this age, his potential is immense. This is what people have been saying for some time now of course but seeing it in high school is one thing. Against this team? Astonishing.

This is putting the cart before the horse but an intriquing question: if he begins to dominate in Vegas, would they bump him up to the main team? Seems unlikely, but watch for yourself: the kid can play.
