I have player 10 TIMES better than Mason Greenwood on list after missing out on Man Utd striker, says Lazio chief

A LAZIO chief claims he has set his sights on a player “x10 better than Mason Greenwood” after missing out on the Manchester United star.

The forward has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer.

But he appears to be heading to Marseille with the French club understood to be in advanced talks with United over his transfer.

Marseille look set to land Greenwood for around £27million, beating the likes of Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Lazio to his signature.

Lazio reportedly had a bid worth £20m rejected by the Red Devils, despite the offer including a 50 per cent sell on fee.

Club president Claudio Lotito spoke out defiantly about the collapse of the transfer, stating he now has a better target in mind.

He said: “The deal to sign Mason Greenwood was close last year but then it collapsed at the final stages.

“Now I’ve one more name on the list, I can’t share the name but he’s x10 times better than Greenwood.”

Marseille have also included a substantial sell-on clause in their package to sign Greenwood, who returned to Carrington for United training this week.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at LaLiga side Getafe where he scored ten goals and produced six assists in 36 games.
