Vodafone customers receive mega speed boost as company’s ‘fastest-ever broadband’ is rolled out to millions of homes

MILLIONS of Vodafone customers are about to receive a bonus speed boost as the network provider rolls out its ‘fastest-ever broadband’.

It was only in March that Vodafone unveiled its new Openreach network Ultra Hub and Super WiFi 6E Booster, in an effort to square up to EE and Sky.

Now it has turned its attention to the CityFibre network and upgraded its Pro II packages that offers either 1.8Gbps or 2.2Gbps.

Fore context, UK households experience an average speed of 69.4Mbps, according to Virgin Media.

With 2.2Gbps, you could download the entirety of Traitors season 2 in seconds.

Or a three-hour-long movie like Oppenheimer in roughly four minutes.

Vodafone Pro II package - all the details

How much is the Pro II package?

Full Fibre 1.8Gbps and 2.2Gbps cost £70 per month.

It’s not cheap, but its ultra-fast.

Am I eligible?

The Pro II package is only available for households on the CityFibre network.

Depending on where you live, you will be eligible for different networks with varying packages.

To see whether you’re eligible for CityFibre packages, which currently reach 8million UK homes, use Vodafone’s official network checker.

If you’re disappointed that you’re not eligible for the Pro II package, fear not.

CityFibre is expanding its network to more towns and cities as part of the second phase of its £2.5billion rollout.

Mobile broadband boost

Vodafone hasn’t just stopped at home broadband with its recent score of upgrades.

The company has also announced it is deploying a 4G and 5G boost that will squash the loads times for short-form videos in busy areas.

It should be welcome news for the Instagram Reels, Facebook Video and TikTok addicts that walk among us.

For this, Vodafone has partnered with Meta – which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp – to trial the “network optimisation” that allows customers to “view more high-quality short videos”.

Alberto Ripepi, Vodafone’s Chief Network Officer, said: “Meta’s willingness to optimise the delivery of video for its applications leads the way for a more efficient use of existing network resources.

“Vodafone and Meta have implemented these optimisations across Vodafone’s European markets and intend to continue collaborating to foster additional efficiencies.”
