Man Utd now talking about signing striking duo with 90 EPL goals btwn them, both available for £70m - report

Manchester United have held internal talks about signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney and his Everton counterpart Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to The Athletic.

The Englishmen each have one year remaining on their contracts and have indicated they will not be signing new deals at their clubs as they are looking to move.

Man United are already closing on the acquisition of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, but another forward could be added to their attacking ranks if major sales can be made in the coming weeks.

Brentford value Toney at £ 60 million, but they may accept a figure closer to £40m. He has netted 36 goals in 83 league games for the club.

A deal of around £30m is viewed as plausible for Calvert-Lewin as the Toffees are willing to sell him given their financial situation.

Calvert-Lewin has been less prolific than Toney in the Premier League, scoring 54 goals in 214 appearances.

Man United have scored 115 Premier League goals over the last two campaigns under manager Erik ten Hag.

They need to do more in the attacking third if they are to start challenging for major titles having won just the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in recent seasons.

Ten Hag may now have to decide which striker to add to Zirkzee once the Netherlands international is signed, and he will not be short of transfer targets.

Toney is impressing for England at the European Championship after a lengthy ban limited him to just four goals in 17 league games last term.

Calvert-Lewin demonstrated his fitness last season after recent campaigns with injury issues, and he will be desperate to prove himself at another club.
