'In a hermetically-sealed caddy shack': Morning Joe rips into Trump's disappearing act

Morning Joe ridiculed Donald Trump Tuesday for hiding out in a ‘hermetically-sealed caddy shack” in a desperate effort to keep attention on Joe Biden.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough mocked Trump for doing nothing since Biden flopped during a debate earlier this month, hoping the attention stays off him and on the president, who’s dealing with demands that he drop out of the presidential race.

Despite criticism of his age and doubts about his health, Biden has done 10 events since, compared to Trump's none, Scarborough said.

“If this campaign is about Joe Biden, Donald Trump wins. If this campaign is about Donald Trump, Joe Biden wins. It's that simple right now, because of the debate performance,” he said. “Joe Biden's own debate performance, inexplicable debate performance, the conversation is about Joe Biden. Donald Trump is literally doing nothing, staying at home. I think he called into Sean Hannity last night. No events. He's gone completely dark. They are keeping him in a hermetically-sealed caddyshack.”

Scarborough has been openly critical of Biden’s performance at the debate, but he said “bad debate nights happen” and has been dismissive of calls for him to drop out.

But he’s been a lot more critical of Trump, calling him a “sociopath” who is not “fit to be president.”

He’s also expressed concern over Trump's mental state and declining cognitive abilities, mocking his frequent mistakes and inability to recall basic facts, and arguing this undermines the GOP's attempts to portray Biden as unfit.

On Tuesday, he hit out at Trump's "hypocrisy."

“I find it hilarious. Regardless of how you feel, the hypocrisy of saying ‘Oh, Joe Biden needs to go to sleep at 8. Barack Obama went up at 6 every night!”

Co-host Mike Brzezinski added, “Donald Trump never worked!”

Scarborough went on, “George W. Bush went up at 6 every night, watched ESPN most nights. … Donald Trump, I mean, remember those -- he averaged 2 1/2, 3 hours of work a day in the White House. Remember the executive time? He did nothing.

"Again, all of this is very legitimate, but so many arguments that are used against Joe Biden just don't hold water if you're a supporter of Donald Trump. If you're in the media, it holds water. If you're a supporter of Donald Trump, it holds no water because no president has ever done less in the White House than Donald Trump.
