A STRICT list of rules for guests attending a formal wedding has divided opinions.
The woman argued she wasn’t being a “bridezilla” by asking family and friends to respect her and her husband-to-be’s demands for their nuptials.
Rachel (@hairbyrayyycheelll) has garnered over 10,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares a glimpse into her life.
She went viral on the social media app when she shared the controversial rules she set for guests ahead of her wedding.
Many people said they would’ve refused to attend the ceremony if they were invited, while others defended her requirements.
NON-NEGOTIABLE NO-NOS
Countless guests asked if they could bring their children, but Rachel only made an exception for the flower girl and ring bearer — who went home right after the ceremony.
She and her husband didn’t want any kids under age 21 to attend because there was a lake at their reception venue.
However, rule number two was the biggest “drama starter,” as she demanded no alcohol for the groomsmen before the ceremony.
Rachel argued that having spent “so much money and time” on her big day, they should wait until later in the day to drink.
Asking to bring a plus-one to the wedding — if none was on the invite — was also a no-no.
She said having to say “no” was stressful but she didn’t want any strangers in attendance.
The bride had some dress code stipulations, too, requiring neutral colors and banning guests from wearing jeans.
Rachel said they received “backlash” for being firm about what people could wear but it was because she wanted her wedding photos to look a specific way.
Her final rule — not standing in the aisle to take photos — was broken and ruined her professional snaps.
“One person stood in the middle of our aisle and she’s in the back of all of our pictures,” Rachel raged.
CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE
Almost 10 million people watched the video and thousands took to the comment section to share their opinions.
“LOL if my kids aren’t invited neither am I, we don’t have the luxury of a babysitter,” one person said.
“I’d literally not go if I can’t bring a date,” another wrote. “I have the worst social anxiety.
“I just went to one without a date and it sucked. Never again.”
“Good lord, I’m surprised anyone turned up!” a third chimed in.
“Most people hate going to weddings as it is and then all the rules! [laughing].”
Despite many people complaining about the rules, others said they would enforce the same requirements for guests at their wedding.
“These rules are reasonable, people are so mad, and for what?” one person asked.
“I think the kid one is fine,” another chimed in.
“Kids complain when they’re tired and it can take away from the bride and groom. I’m having that same rule one day.”
“I’m gonna have a strict dress code, I’ve been to too many weddings in my yee haw area where people wear jeans,” a third wrote.
