Report: Club are yet to table an official bid to Tottenham for South American

With Tottenham Hotspur having returned for pre-season training last weekend and the days edging closer to the club’s tour of Asia, transfer activity will hopefully soon ramp up.

Emerson Royal’s future at Tottenham is under question

Sky Sports have claimed that contrary to reports doing the rounds over the last few days, AC Milan are yet to launch an official offer for Emerson Royal.

Over the last few days, a number of reports from Italy have claimed that Milan have now pressed ahead with a move for Emerson and are now locked in negotiations with Tottenham over the right-back.

This includes an update from Gianluca Di Mazrio, who revealed that the Rossoneri had launched their opening offer for the Brazilian and are keen to complete a deal swiftly.

It appears that might have been turned down by Spurs as Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday that the Rossoneri had returned with a ‘fresh bid’ for the player.

The journalist explained that the former Real Betis man has already agreed on a five-year contract with the Serie A club and is keen to complete a move to the San Siro.

Royal was signed from Barcelona or a fee of just under £26m in 2020 and experienced a difficult time adjusting to the demands of the Premier League (The Sun).

However, these reports have now been rubbished by Sky Sports, who say that the negotiations are not as far along as claimed by various sources.

The outlet states that while Milan are indeed keen on securing Emerson’s services, Tottenham are still waiting for Paulo Fonseca’s side to make their opening offer.

The South American found himself down in Ange Postecoglou‘s pecking order last season with the Australian preferring Pedro Porro as his first-choice at right-back.

Whether or not an official offer has been made, it is clear that the two sides are locked in talks and that they are aware of each other’s position.

I expect this deal to accelerate over the coming days and I would not be surprised if it is concluded swiftly.
