‘Plan is to stay’ – Fabrizio Romano reveals Spurs-linked player wants to stay at current club
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Jobe Bellingham could snub interest from the Premier League clubs and decide to stay at Sunderland.
Jobe Bellingham has a decision to make this summer
Just twelve months on from his move to the Stadium of Light, Bellingham is seemingly a wanted man in the top flight, with a number of clubs, including Spurs, thought to be keen on securing his services.
The latest such update came from journalist Alan Nixon, who revealed on his Patreon (via GiveMeSport) that Spurs are extremely keen on securing the midfielder this summer.
The journalist said that Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the 18-year-old while the Tottenham hierarchy are also of the belief that he could turn into a future superstar.
However, Nixon revealed that the Lilywhites could face fierce competition from Brentford and Crystal Palace for the midfielder, who is valued by Sunderland at over £20m.
Bellingham could be set for a further season in the Championship
If Romano‘s latest update is to be believed, despite attracting interest from clubs within the Premier League, Bellingham wants to remain with the Black Cats.
He names Palace as one of the clubs pushing for the Birmingham City academy graduate but the player is said to want to spend one more year with the Championship club.
This is because Bellingham believes in the project which is currently underway at Sunderland under the new management of Regis Le Bris.
Romano took to X to write: “Jobe Bellingham’s plan is to stay at Sunderland at least for one more season despite interest from several Premier League clubs.
“Crystal Palace have been pushing for weeks but Jobe’s current stance is to stay and trust #SAFC ambitious project.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Bellingham would be wary of making the jump up to a bigger club too early, which might potentially restrict his game time and slow down his development.
I wonder if Spurs would consider proposing a deal to sign him and then loan him back to Sunderland for next season.
