NEW YORK (PIX11) – The heat on Monday was so intense the Third Avenue Bridge got stuck halfway open, according to the FDNY.

The incident happened around 2:45 p.m. Marine units were called to water down the bridge's hydraulics to get it working again.

The NYPD was on the scene to control traffic. The bridge reopened four hours later during the Monday evening commute, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported.

The heat isn't going away anytime soon. Temperatures are once again expected to reach over 90 degrees, according to PIX11 meteorologists.

A heat advisory is in effect for much of the tri-state area through Wednesday.
