Final Manhattanhenge of 2024: Here's when you can see it

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – There's one last chance in 2024 to catch a glimpse of the luminous Manhattanhenge.

The final Manhattanhenge is this Friday, July 12, with a half-sun version on Sunday.

The sun-kissed cross streets and buildings will showcase their golden glow during peak sunset, starting at around 8:20 p.m.

The celestial event occurs when the sun aligns with Manhattan's grid, making for picturesque views.

The name, coined by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, borrows from the famous Stonehenge monument in the U.K.

Manhattanhenge can best be viewed from 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd, or 57th streets, the Tudor City overpass, or Hunter’s Point South Park in Queens, Tyson said.
