Okypy to hire new pharmacist at Limassol general hospital

State health services (Okypy) is to hire a new pharmacist to work at Limassol general hospital, it said on Tuesday.

The new pharmacist will take up a full-time role and will begin their duties with immediate effect once hired, taking the total number of pharmacists working at the hospital to 12.

The move was announced in a letter sent by Okypy to trade union Isotita following negotiations on Monday aimed at preventing a pharmacists’ strike, with incumbent pharmacists at the Limassol general hospital upset over understaffing.

While the process of hiring a new pharmacist is being carried out, the Paphos general hospital’s senior pharmacist Stelios Kallis will be transferred to Limassol temporarily.
