'Scare him a little bit': Man tells police he dropped boy off second floor hotel balcony

A man dropped a child head-first off a second-floor balcony to “scare him a little bit” hours after he met the boy’s mother at a hotel pool, police in Daytona Beach said.

Guests at the Sandalwood Resort called 911 Saturday after seeing Brandon Gillmore dangle the boy by his feet before letting him plunge, according to the police report. It was reported by Law & Crime.

The boy’s mother said Gillmore had been left with the boy when she went to take a shower.

Police said Gillmore told them he’d taken the boy outside to play with him and “scare him a little bit,” and admitted to dropping him.

The incident was also caught by surveillance cameras.

Gillmore was charged with aggravated child abuse. The child suffered blunt force injuries and his condition is unknown.
