Last weeks races may have felt more like a winter league than a summer league, with a cool, squally westerly breeze and heavy showers. The conditions, however did not deter the RCYC keelboats from turning in numbers on both nights!
On Thursday night, with 12 boats racing across all divisions,  Mike McCann in his Etchells, “Don’t Dilly Dally” came 1st in IRC Spin with Brian Twomey’s 1720 “Darkside” winning Echo. In the Whitesail fleet Ian Hickey is continuing his clean sweep on “Cavatina” in IRC but was pipped in ECHO this week by the McGrath familys Dehler 34, “Big Mc”.
On Friday night, with the Cork Harbour Combined League put to bed, we once again had a super turnout, with 18 boats racing.
We had some new names on the podium for this league with Jimmy Nyhan in “Outrigger” coming 3rd, Simon O’Keefe’s classic, “lady Min” in 2nd place and the MacSweeney family won the night in their Sigma 33, “Scribbler II”.
Thank you to the owners and their crew for continuing to support our summer series in such numbers, to Ann, Amy and all the staff, our RO’s Anthony O’Leary and Ian Hickey and to Mike and Sean for doing the results for us.
This week will be our final races before we break for Volvo Cork Week, and we will resume on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th.
We hope you all enjoy Volvo Cork Week, if you haven’t entered yet, then don’t miss out on what’s going to be the biggest Keelboat in the country this year.
