Last Saturday we held our Volvo Cork Week training day, led by Barry Hayes of UK sails.

We had a 10am start and with Barry’s guidance, practiced numerous starts, mark roundings, upwinds, reaches and downwinds. Barry followed the fleet around the various courses and jumped on-board each boat to give some personalized advice. Two hours later we returned ashore for a debrief in the dining room. This comprised of reviewing the video footage and photo’s on the projector screen, pointing out and giving advice on sail trim, rigging, tactics and overall boat handling.

          

Huge thanks to Barry Hayes for sharing his time and knowledge, those involved all felt this was a very beneficial session. We hope to run another in September for the October league.
