However fans were left shocked when the rockers confirmed that the bulk of dates have had to be cancelled, after Josh had to fly back to the US for an “emergency” surgical procedure.
The news was announced on the group’s Instagram page.
Posting a picture of the tour dates the band shared a message to fans.
The statement read: “QOTSA regret to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery.
“Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.”
The eight shows affected include France’s Festival Jardin Sonore, Pohoda Festival and Romania’s Electric Castle.
At the moment, there is no suggestion that Gothenburg’s Way Out West Festival on August 8, Oya Festival on August 9 and Copenhagen’s Syd for Solen on August 10 have been cancelled.
Fans immediately rushed to send well wishes to Josh.
One wrote: “Joshua, we’ll be thinking about you and wish you a very successful surgery and recovery. Please give yourself time to heal.”
While another said: “I’m wishing Josh a speedy and great recovery Please focus on your health, it’s more important than anything. Love you guys and sending you the most healing vibe.”
This one commented: “Music can stop! Your life is so important. Get well soon Josh”
Josh was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and underwent successful surgery.
Queens of the Stone Age comment
The band added this extra message for fans who have been affected by the tour cancellation
The rockers told fans: “Queens are gutted we aren’t able to play for you.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and share in your frustration and disappointment.”
Meanwhile, last week fans were left devastated after fellow rock band Pearl Jam pulled out of its London show just hours before doors opened.
A message on the group’s Instagram page read: “Unfortunately, the London and Berlin shows were cancelled, but we still wanted to make sure you have an opportunity to see the great event poster art for each show.
“Check the links in our story or follow the artists if you’d like to pick one up.
“Each artist has 100 APs, as well as 200 tour edition prints.”
Fans were quick to react in the comments section, with one musing: “Are you seriously trying to sell us stuff while we lost money from travels to cancelled shows?”
A second bluntly wrote: “No, thanks. Broke after paying hotel and flights for nothing.. also haven’t seen any of the posters here in Berlin as advertising.”
