Lane County arson suspect accused of setting dry grass on fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man accused of intentionally setting two fires in dry grass was arrested in Lane County on Monday afternoon, according to local deputies.

Witnesses reported seeing 41-year-old Michael David Dinwiddie of Springfield setting the fires near 87400 Cedar Flat Road around 4:45 p.m. When officials arrived, however, he had already left the scene.

Dinwiddie was eventually found near 8700 Thurston Road and taken to Lane County Jail, where he faces charges of first-degree arson and second-degree burglary.

No further details of the fire were immediately reported.
