NYC DOT releases limited edition Beastie Boys Square street signs

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A limited amount of Beastie Boys Square street signs will be available for sale by the New York City Department of Transportation,  DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced on Tuesday. 

Currently, a Beastie Boys Square street sign hangs on the corner of Ludlow and Rivington Streets on the Lower East Side, a spot immortalized on their second studio album “Pauls Boutique,” a record that left an indelible mark on the history of hip-hop.

“Our CityStore is a time capsule for all things New York City, and that includes honoring the indelible legacy hip-hop has had on shifting culture and connecting people,” said NYC DCAS Commissioner Louis A. Molina. “This rings true as we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Beastie Boys’ iconic album – Paul’s Boutique. Our continued partnership with NYC DOT is truly a special way to pay homage to our city’s rich and diverse culture and offer New Yorkers a small piece of history. We can’t wait to celebrate the next drop.”

“Paul’s Boutique” has sold over two million units and was listed as one of TIME Magazine's 100 Greatest Albums of All Time, Apple's Music's Top 100 Albums Ever Made, and Rolling Stone’s 200 Greatest Albums. 

Only 75 signs will be sold online.
