Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals She Is 'Unexpectedly' Pregnant With Her First Baby & The Comments Are Unhinged
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is going to be a mom — and she is just as surprised as fans are! The 32-year-old, who was released from prison in 2023 after her participation in the 2015 killing of her mom Dee Dee, announced today that she is pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Ken Urker.
The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup star announced the news in a YouTube video titled: “I’m Pregnant, My Journey So Far” on Tuesday. “Hi everybody! So, I know the rumors have been flying around for quite some time now, and I’m happy to announce that I am 11 weeks pregnant,” she says in the video.
“Ken and I are expecting our very first child come January of 2025,” she continues. “We’re both very excited.” She explains that the pregnancy “was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”
Blanchard also gave details about the pregnancy side effects she has experienced so far in her first trimester. This includes a craving for orange juice, an “insatiable hunger,” “crazy mood swings,” and tiredness, but all in all, her pregnancy “has been a breeze” so far.
“I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother,” she says in a later part of the video. “And I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to become a mother.”
“When I found out that I was pregnant, none of anything else mattered,” she added. “The drama on social media … and all of that drama just all faded. It didn’t matter anymore. All that matters is making sure that I’m healthy, the baby’s healthy, my relationship with Ken is healthy, and we are moving forward in a positive way.
“All of the things that I wished I could have had when I was little …” she says, before pausing to cry. “All of the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby,” she continues, adding, “I am a mother now, and I’m happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”
The former Munchausen by proxy victim dated Urker while in prison. He proposed in 2018, but their relationship ended before her release. She married ex Ryan Anderson in July 2022, while still in prison, but the two split three months after her release. In May, Blanchard told PEOPLE that she turned to Urker after the dissolution of her marriage.
“It wasn’t until I knew that my marriage was over that I was like, ‘I would like to see you and let’s hang out because we never got to hang out before when I was in prison,’” she told the outlet. “I would say that Ken is my first love because that’s when I honestly felt like a mature love. It wasn’t based off of a fantasy. It was actually based on a connection that two people have for each other.”
Despite the positivity Blanchard is choosing to bring forward in her motherhood journey, people were acting quite unhinged after the news dropped today. Some people were speculating on if Urker really is the father of the baby. “No way. Gypsy, Ken and Ryan all gonna be on Maury this time next year,” one person accused.
“’Like’ if it’s Ryan’s, ‘comment’ if it’s Ken,” another person said. “Ryans or Kens?! Because this timelime is a f—ing mess,” another wrote.
Others judged her for jumping into a relationship too soon. “Gypsy, you haven’t even been out of prison very long. You and Ken JUST GOT BACK TOGETHER. You’re still FREAKING MARRIED. You wanted to trap Ken. What happened to the morning after pills you was taking? Didn’t take one with Ken? unreal” one person wrote.
“You really needed time to HEAL not a baby,” someone else said.
PEOPLE also posted a photo of the news to Instagram, drawing tons of wild comments as well. “So it’s okay to murder your mother, marry in prison, divorce after ya get out, go back to an ex, get pregnant and become famous and get a Netflix series. WOW. Don’t know that being a criminal deserves awards and movie contracts. We can do better America. ????” Yikes!
“I wonder if Munchausen by Proxy is genetically inherited? I sure hope not for that baby’s sake,” another wrote, as if it’s up to anybody else to decide if someone should have a child or not.
Still, some people were supportive. “Aww i’m so happy for youuuu i’m so glad you’re getting a chance to live life and experience motherhood, congratulations gypsy!!” Someone else said, “Awww CONGRATS!! That’s amazing!! You’re having your baby with your soulmate.”
