Calvert-Lewin to reject new Everton contract amid interest from Man United

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin could leave the club this summer amid interest from Manchester United.

The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Goodison Park, and according to reports from The Athletic, he has indicated that he will not sign a new deal with the Toffees.

Calvert-Lewin is trying to leverage his contract situation to drum up interest from potential suitors, and Everton will not stand in the way of a possible exit.

Despite being active in the transfer window, the Toffees are still not in an ideal financial position and are open to selling Calvert-Lewin.

A deal worth around £30 million is considered plausible, with Everton keen to recoup a significant sum from his sale rather than lose him on a free transfer next year.

Everton signed the England international from Sheffield United for just £1.5m in the summer of 2016, and he has served the club well during his eight-year spell at Goodison Park.

Calvert-Lewin has 247 appearances for the Toffees, chipping in with 68 goals and 18 assists. He bagged eight goals in 32 Premier League games last season, helping Everton survive relegation comfortably.

United have emerged as a possible destination for Calvert-Lewin, although they have reservations about his hugely concerning injury record.

However, United figures have noted he featured in 38 games across all competitions last season, playing 18 more minutes than Rasmus Hojlund in the Premier League.

Selling Calvert-Lewin for around £30m will represent a huge profit for Everton, and they’ll be eager to reinvest the proceeds into strengthening Sean Dyche’s squad.

The Toffees have been active this summer, signing Tim Ireogbunam from Aston Villa, Iliman Ndiaye from Olympique Marseille, and re-signing Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds United.

They are currently embroiled in a three-way tussle with Villa and newly promoted Ipswich Town for coveted Hull star Jaden Philogene.

Ipswich already have a deal in place with Hull and have agreed personal terms with the talented forward, but Everton are still in contention to win the race for his signature.
