Ellen Pompeo Ups Presence in 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 21, New Episode Count Revealed!

Ellen Pompeo is no longer the lead star of Grey’s Anatomy and she lessened her presence in the show for seasons 19 and 20, but that will change in the upcoming season!

The 54-year-old actress is still the top-billed star and has series regular status because of her role as the narrator, but her on-screen role was scaled back last year.

Deadline reports that Ellen will be increasing her presence in the 21st season, though she still won’t be featured in every episode.

The outlet reports that Ellen will be in at least seven episodes of season 21 and there’s a potential for her to be in as many as 14 episodes. The season has an 18-episode order.

Ellen has been working on the upcoming Hulu limited series Natalia for the past year, but production wraps this week. Season 21 of Grey’s will start production later this summer.
