33 is a minimalist chair created by Copenhagen-based designer Mario Martinez. The juxtaposition of these materials creates a striking contrast, reminiscent of the simple yet functional chairs commonly found in rural areas, often placed outside to enjoy the coolness of dusk after a warm day. The chair’s proportions are thoughtfully designed, with thicknesses that evoke traditional carpentry work. Despite its seamless appearance, the chair is designed for flat-pack shipping, offering not only transport convenience but also the ability to replace worn parts, such as the woven seat, without needing to replace the entire chair. This adaptability allows the chair to evolve with changing tastes over time. The designer placed a strong emphasis on the tactile qualities of the materials. Extensive testing ensured the aluminum retained its grainy, glass-blasted finish while being protected, maintaining an honest and pleasing touch.
