Travel Guidance: FCB Magpies v Derry City FC

Derry City Football Club would like to wish all supporters traveling to Gibraltar for the first leg of the game against FCB Magpies a safe journey.

Over 200 City supporters are making the trip to Gibraltar, with the away allocation selling out in under 10 minutes. City fans have also been snapping up tickets, with season ticket holders purchasing their tickets in the priority window period. Tickets for the home leg are now on general sale.

Supporters traveling to Gibraltar are asked to note the following

Both clubs, as well as the Gibraltar police are strongly advising against fans attending without tickets;
Area around the ground will be controlled, and accessible only available to fans with tickets
There is limited cover from the elements in this area and with the extreme temperatures, fans may be susceptible to heat stroke.
There are no bars in the vicinity of the stadium and authorities are planning to place screens around the stadium to limit the visibility of the pitch from the external perimeter

The Ivy Bar is showing the game for those without tickets, and is also organising return transfers to/from the Europa Point Stadium. If you wish to avail of this service, you can purchase tickets here.

Whilst City fans are rightly proud of their reputation in Ireland and beyond, the club has been fined for incidents in European games in recent years. These fines directly harm the club and has an impact on the playing budget and others areas.

The club was fined for pitch incursion and the use of pyrotechnics in recent European games and supporters are strongly urged.

Supporters are reminded

  • Supporters under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs may be denied entry
  • Use of pyrotechnics is strictly forbidden
  • Follow the instructions of local stewards at all times
  • Standing in footwells is not allowed
  • Pitch incursions are forbidden

Since our entry in the League of Ireland, City fans have traveled across Europe and have left a positive reputation. We hope that the game in Gibraltar is another positive chapter on and off the field in the storied history of Derry City FC.
