Dillon Brooks on upcoming exhibition game vs. Team USA: We're going to go balls to the wall

Canada will play a much-anticipated rematch with the United States on Wednesday in an Olympic tuneup against a national team bolstered by James, Stephen Curry and an All-Star team of a roster. But Dillon Brooks knew he would not take it as a simple exhibition on the way to Paris. “I take it as another game, but me as being who I am, I like to make a statement,” Brooks said. “So, I’ll be ready to play. Team Canada will be ready to play, and we’re going to go balls to the wall and watch the film after and see if we got better.”

More on this storyline

“It was great having a refresh with Canadian blood,” Brooks said then, after averaging 17.4 points and on 44.4% 3-point shooting in the tournament. “Guys who believe in me. Guys who trust in me. “I’m just happy to be able to put this jersey on. I’m just happy to be here, with my teammates and put this jersey on and represent my country for all the Canadians out there.” -via Houston Chronicle / July 9, 2024
As difficult as it is to imagine Brooks more motivated to compete, he said he was “because there’s new USA players that spoke up after (the World Cup) and wanted to play. So, you know, I’m happy they wanted to play. So, I’m happy they wanted to play. We get to test our talent against theirs. And it should be a fun one. At the beginning it was Steph and LeBron that said something and then everyone else said it joining on. I’m happy they made the commitment. Let’s see, talent against talent.” -via Houston Chronicle / July 9, 2024
