Gov. Stitt signs school safety bill Alyssa's Law

On Tuesday, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed Alyssa's Law into effect as a part of HB 4073 in addressing school safety.

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - On Tuesday, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed Alyssa's Law into effect as a part of HB 4073 in addressing school safety.

Alyssa's Law, named for one of the seventeen victims of the 2018 Parkland, Florida shooting, garnered bipartisan support from both the Oklahoma House and Senate to mandate the implementation of emergency alert systems in public schools across the state.

The legislation signed by Governor Stitt is part of a growing national movement to secure schools, with Oklahoma becoming the seventh state to pass a version of Alyssa's Law ensuring school safety measures statewide.

“Alyssa’s Law,” implements a mobile panic alert system in all school districts starting this fall.
