VIDEO: Oregon temperatures too hot for baby camel

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A baby camel in Oregon City is grunting what we’re all thinking: It’s too dang hot outside.

Oregon City resident Kim Dilworth sent KOIN 6 video of her 2-month-old camel “Magdalene” parked in front of an outdoor air conditioner during Portland's ongoing heat wave.

“Our baby camel Magdalene needs outdoor air conditioning to keep cool and record-breaking temperatures,” Dilworth said. “She’s very young, but understands how important it is to keep cool, even for a camel.”

Portland is forecast to see its fifth straight day of record, near-100-degree temperatures Tuesday. KOIN 6 Meteorologist Kelley Bayern forecasts Portland temperatures will reach 103 degrees Tuesday. Daily highs are forecast to dip back into the high 80s and low 90s for the remainder of the week, starting Wednesday.

“Slightly cooler temperatures are expected to arrive in Portland on Wednesday with highs dipping into the upper 80s to low 90s the rest of the week,” Bayern said. “An overall warm and summery pattern with above-normal temperatures will continue through the weekend.”
